“India is far superior to Pakistan in all three formats” – Gautam Gambhir feels IND vs AUS is current best rivalry

Former Indian opening batter Gautam Gambhir expresses the view that the India-Pakistan cricket rivalry has lost some of its intensity, attributing it to the Men in Blue’s dominance over their neighbors across formats.

Gambhir believes that the competition between India and Australia has been more fiercely contested in recent times. Owing to political tensions, India and Pakistan haven’t engaged in a bilateral series since 2012-13, limiting their encounters to ICC tournaments and the Asia Cup, often resulting in one-sided affairs.

In contrast, Australia and the sub-continent giants have engaged in closely contested battles in recent years. Speaking on a Hotstar show, Gambhir emphasized that, in the current era, Pakistan defeating the Men in Blue would be considered a significant upset.

Gambhir said “Pakistan has dominated India a lot of times. Currently, if you see the level of both teams, India is far superior to Pakistan in all three formats. If Pakistan defeats India it’s an upset, if India defeats Pakistan, it’s very much given. India and Australia, from a cricketing point of view, is a top rivalry. If you ask a cricket fan what is the actual rivalry, they will also say India and Australia.”
