India Vs Pakistan in World Cup can have a date change, Bumrah would return in the Ireland Series and more changes, reveals Jay Shah.
BCCI Secretary, Jay Shah, officially confirmed on Thursday, July 27, that there will be some changes in the schedule of the India vs Pakistan game in the ODI World Cup 2023. While the venues will remain the same, the dates are likely to be altered based on a request from member boards.
The much-anticipated India vs Pakistan match is currently scheduled to take place on October 15 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. However, several reports suggested that the game might be rescheduled to a day earlier due to concerns over security during the Hindu festival of Navratri, which starts on the same day. The Gujarat police expressed their inability to provide adequate security for the match due to the festival’s celebrations, posing logistical challenges.
Jay Shah said “We have received requests from 2-3 member boards to change match dates. It’s not specific to India Pakistan match.”
Additionally, there is positive news regarding fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah’s fitness ahead of the World Cup. As per Jay Shah’s update after the BCCI meeting with state associations, Bumrah is in good shape and is likely to be included in the squad for the three-match T20I series against Ireland, which commences on August 18.
