“Indian pacers look best in the world” Wasim Akram on India defeating England in World Cup 2023.
Former Pakistan fast bowler Wasim Akram has showered praise on the Indian pace trio, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammad Shami, and Mohammed Siraj, lauding them as the ‘best in the world.’ In a scintillating display during the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 league stage in Lucknow on October 29, Bumrah and Shami’s fiery opening spell wreaked havoc on England, securing a crucial victory for India. This dynamic duo combined to take seven of the ten wickets, delivering a remarkable bowling performance. Notably, Mohammad Shami has already claimed nine wickets in just two games of the tournament.
Akram, a legendary figure in the world of cricket, commended India’s fast bowlers for their outstanding performance, which played a pivotal role in shattering England’s confidence while defending a modest total on a challenging pitch. He emphasized India’s exceptional execution after being tasked with batting first, underscoring their brilliant performance against a spirited England batting lineup.
In his words, “Indian pacers look brilliant, they look best in the world starting from the leader of the pack, Bumrah. Siraj ran in tirelessly, and Shami delivered the final blow for England. Initially, many of us believed India was trailing, and England had a chance. However, the pitch at the World Cup was unlike what we have typically seen. It proved difficult to bat on, particularly when India was at the crease,” Akram stated during an appearance on the ‘A Sports’ program.
