‘Is Surya considered for the longest format or not? And why no Arshdeep for ODI?’, Aakash Chopra raises question over selection process.

The career trajectory of Suryakumar Yadav in Test cricket has remained shrouded in mystery. Earlier this year, the stylish batsman was included in the squad for the Border Gavaskar Trophy. Despite being given the chance to feature in the playing XI, he failed to make a significant impact. Consequently, he was dropped from the team, but still remained in contention for future selection.

However, things took an unexpected turn when Suryakumar Yadav was excluded from the World Test Championship squad. Furthermore, he was unable to secure a spot in the Test team for the upcoming matches against the West Indies too. This pattern of being selected and then dropped has raised questions about his future prospects in the longer format of the game. Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra, expressed his concerns and highlighted the uncertainties surrounding Suryakumar Yadav’s Test career.

Additionally, Aakash Chopra also raised inquiries about the national selectors’ decision regarding another player, Arshdeep Singh. The young fast bowler impressed with his performances in T20Is but had limited opportunities to showcase his skills in the 50-overs format. Chopra had anticipated his inclusion in the squad for the matches against the West Indies, but to his surprise, Arshdeep Singh was not selected.

Chopra tweeted “And what’s the deal with SKY’s intermittent selection for Tests…gets picked…gets dropped. Is he considered for the longest format or not? And why no Arshdeep for ODI? Is he fit?,”.
