“It’s a shame for the series that he will be missing” : Stuart Broad on Virat Kohli missing the IND vs ENG Test Series.
Former England fast bowler Stuart Broad has expressed his sentiments regarding the absence of star Indian batsman Virat Kohli from the ongoing Test series against England. Broad acknowledged that Kohli’s non-participation in the series would be disappointing for the cricketing community as a whole.
Initially, Kohli had withdrawn from only the first two Tests, citing personal reasons. However, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed last week that the former Indian captain would miss the entire series, with the board respecting his decision.
Despite Kohli’s absence, Broad remains optimistic about the depth of talent in the Indian batting lineup. He believes that the team has enough quality players who can step up and fill the void left by Kohli’s absence.
Broad (To ANIS) said “It’s a shame for the series that he will be missing but India have won the last Test. Kohli is such a quality player, his passion, his fire, but obviously personal matters always take precedence. But it gives a great opportunity to young players also. So someone in the Indian batting line-up will stand up at some stage.”
India enters the upcoming Test in Rajkot with confidence following a comprehensive 106-run victory in the previous Test in Visakhapatnam. Additionally, the team might benefit from the availability of experienced players such as KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja for the third Test, scheduled to commence on Thursday, February 15th.
