“I’ve had two kids since you last scored a century”, Alex Lees reveals how he sledge Virat Kohli during 2022 Edgbaston Test.

England Test cricketer Alex Lees recently shed light on the sledge he delivered to Virat Kohli during the 2022 Edgbaston Test against India, emphasizing the humor and banter prevalent in the sport. Lees, a left-handed batsman, humorously mentioned to Kohli that he had managed to father two children since the last time he scored a century at the international level.

Kohli, who was enduring a batting slump and had not reached a century since November 2019, was struggling on the field. The right-handed Indian captain had also faced criticism from fans for his attempt to sledge England’s Jonny Bairstow during his batting innings. To the surprise of many, Bairstow managed to score a century under immense pressure in the first innings of that match, with some attributing his performance to Kohli’s attempts to provoke him.

In his latest book, Lees revealed that Kohli had been engaging in sledging tactics directed at him for an extended period, leading him to respond in kind. Lees delves into his mindset in his book, providing detailed insights into the dynamics of on-field banter and how cricketers handle such situations

“He had been getting under people’s skin in the field when he was batting. I’m not fussed about someone’s position in the game. We are all equal out on the pitch. I just wasn’t going to put up with someone trying to intimidate me. It was as simple as that. He is an incredible player, but I thought he was just being a bit of an idiot.”

Alex Lees went near Virat Kohli and said “I’ve had two kids since you last scored a century.”
