“Jaiswal hasn’t learned from you, he has learned from his upbringing” – Nasser Hussain slams Ben Duckett for on claim on attacking batting approach.

Ben Duckett’s recent statement attributing Yashasvi Jaiswal’s aggressive style of play in the third Test in Rajkot to England’s Bazball approach has sparked controversy. Jaiswal’s remarkable innings of 214 not out off 236 balls, including 14 fours and 12 sixes, left a lasting impression on the match, which India won by a significant margin of 434 runs, taking a 2-1 lead in the series.

Duckett, who himself scored a commendable 153 off 151 balls in England’s first innings, suggested that Bazball deserved credit for Jaiswal’s performance. However, this viewpoint has been met with criticism, notably from former England captain Nasser Hussain.

Hussain on Sky Sports said “When you see players from the opposition playing like that, it almost feels like we should take some credit that they’re playing differently than how other people play Test cricket.”

Hussain emphasized Jaiswal’s upbringing, dedication, and exposure to the IPL as the true factors behind his success. He even suggested that England players could learn from Jaiswal’s batting approach, saying

“The comment on Jaiswal that he has learned from us, I am going to touch on that. He has not learned from you, he has learned from his upbringing and all the hard yards he has put in while growing up, he has learned from the IPL. If anything, I would look at him and learn from him.”

“So, whatever they are saying in public and in that dressing room, I hope they are going back into their room with self-introspection. I can look at that lad and learn from him. Otherwise, it becomes a cult, doesn’t it? At times, Bazball has been described as a cult where you cannot criticize either within or externally. Even in this regime, there is room for learning and improving,”  added the Former England Captain.

Indeed, Jaiswal’s performance speaks for itself. Leading the run charts in the series with 545 runs at an astonishing average of 109 and an impressive strike rate of 81.10, he has showcased his talent and skill consistently throughout the matches. These statistics underscore the depth of his talent and the hard work he has put in to achieve such remarkable feats on the cricket field.
