Jasprit Bumrah likely to be rested for 4th IND vs ENG Test at Ranchi.

India’s premier fast bowler, Jasprit Bumrah, is slated to sit out of the fourth Test against England, commencing in Ranchi on Friday, February 23. Initially, speculations hinted at Bumrah’s potential rest during the third Test in Rajkot, but he ultimately took part in the match.

In a commanding display, India thrashed England by 434 runs in the Rajkot Test on Sunday, February 18. With a declaration of 430/4 in their second innings on Day 4, India set England a daunting target of 557 runs. The visitors capitulated for 122 in 39.4 overs.

According to a report from Cricbuzz, Bumrah is unlikely to feature in India’s playing XI for the fourth Test in Ranchi. The Indian squad is expected to depart from Rajkot on Tuesday, with Bumrah potentially opting to travel separately by road from Rajkot to Ahmedabad on Monday.

The report suggests that Bumrah’s inclusion in the fifth and final Test in Dharamsala could hinge on the outcome of the fourth Test. Previously, Mohammed Siraj was rested for the second Test in Visakhapatnam, while Mukesh Kumar, who was released from the third Test to participate in the Ranji Trophy, is set to rejoin the Test squad in Ranchi. Whether India will seek a replacement for Bumrah if he is indeed rested for the next match remains to be seen.
