Jasprit Bumrah likely to make comeback in Ireland series.
India’s pace sensation, Jasprit Bumrah, is rapidly approaching full fitness and is anticipated to rejoin the Indian white-ball team for the T20Is scheduled in Ireland this August. The 29-year-old speedster has been diligently training at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru, steadily increasing his workload in preparation for his comeback.
Bumrah had undergone a back surgery in March 2023, but he made an impressive recovery and returned to bowling in June under the watchful guidance of VVS Laxman, the head of cricket at the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). The rehabilitation process has been successful, allowing Bumrah to regain his rhythm and form.Initially, the selectors and the BCCI had intended to include Bumrah in the squad for the upcoming Asia Cup in September. However, owing to his recent progress, there is a possibility that he could travel to Ireland with a second-string Indian team in August. The final decision regarding Bumrah’s selection will be made in the coming days, as reported by the Indian Express.
Having been sidelined from competitive cricket since September 2022 due to his injury, Bumrah is currently not experiencing any discomfort. In fact, sources suggest that he may even participate in a few practice matches at the NCA in the coming days, further enhancing his readiness for the upcoming T20Is.
