Jasprit Bumrah returning to cricket in Ireland T20 series as a captain.

Jasprit Bumrah, Indian’s most important fast bowler, is all set to make his much-awaited comeback in the Indian cricket team as he takes charge as the captain for the upcoming three-match T20I series in Ireland, commencing on August 18.

India squad: Jasprit Bumrah (C), Ruturaj Gaikwad (VC), Yashasvi Jaiswal, Tilak Varma, Rinku Singh, Sanju Samson (wk), Jitesh Sharma (wk), Shivam Dube, Washington Sundar, Shahbaz Ahmed, Ravi Bishnoi, Prasidh Krishna, Arshdeep Singh, Mukesh Kumar, Avesh Khan

This will not be the first time Bumrah has led the Indian side, as he already captained the team in a one-off Test match during the previous summer tour in England. However, his return to the field has been long-awaited, as he has been grappling with a recurring back injury since September 2022. His last appearance for India was during the T20I bilateral series against Australia at home, after which he had to take a break due to the same back injury that had previously plagued him during the India tour of England in July 2022. Consequently, he missed two months of cricket, and the injury prevented him from participating in the T20 World Cup in Australia, as well as subsequent events like IPL 2023 and the World Test Championship Final.

During this period of recuperation, Bumrah has been under close observation and treatment at the National Cricket Academy (NCA), with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) carefully monitoring his progress. Fortunately, the BCCI officials are confident that the pace spearhead has made a full recovery and are looking forward to him playing a pivotal role in India’s white-ball squad for the forthcoming Asia Cup and the ODI World Cup, both of which are scheduled to be held in India.

In addition to Bumrah’s return, the Indian team has also welcomed Prasidh Krishna back into the squad. The talented fast bowler’s last appearance for India was during the ODI series against Zimbabwe last year, and his inclusion will undoubtedly add depth and variety to India’s bowling attack.
