Kieron Pollard appointed assistant coach of England for upcoming T20 World Cup 2024.

Former West Indies captain, Kieron Pollard, is set to join the coaching team for the 2024 Menโ€™s T20 World Cup with England, as announced by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) on Sunday. Pollard will assume the role of assistant coach for the June tournament.

Hailing from Trinidad and Tobago, the 36-year-old ex-Somerset all-rounder brings with him a wealth of experience, having played a crucial part in the West Indies’ victory in the T20 World Cup in 2012. Known for his extensive career, Pollard has participated in a record-breaking 600-plus matches in the T20 format.

His inclusion in the coaching staff is particularly significant as the T20 World Cup is set to be co-hosted by the West Indies and the United States. Pollard’s expertise is expected to provide valuable insights, especially regarding the conditions in the Caribbean.

Scheduled to take place from June 4 to June 30, the ninth edition of the T20 World Cup will culminate with the final at the Kensington Oval in Barbados. This tournament will witness an expansion from 16 to 20 teams. England, having secured the title for the second time in Australia 13 months ago, will be aiming to defend their championship in this extended competition.
