KKR names Dushmantha Chameera as Gus Atkinson’s replacement for IPL 2024.

The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have made a strategic move by announcing the signing of Sri Lankan fast bowler Dushmantha Chameera for the upcoming TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season. Chameera will replace England’s Gus Atkinson in the squad, strengthening KKR’s bowling lineup with his wealth of experience in the IPL.

Joining KKR at a reserve price of INR 50 Lakh, Chameera brings pace and the ability to trouble batters with his swing and seam movements. Having previously played for Rajasthan Royals and Royal Challengers Bangalore in the 2018 and 2021 IPL seasons, respectively, Chameera’s stint with Lucknow Super Giants in the 2022 season saw him claim nine wickets from 12 matches.

KKR’s decision to sign Chameera reflects their strategic intent to bolster their bowling attack for the upcoming season. With his IPL experience and skillset, the Sri Lankan pacer is expected to be a valuable asset as KKR aims to defend their title or improve upon their previous performance.

The management of KKR has expressed confidence in Chameera’s abilities, believing that his addition will enhance the team’s overall performance in the IPL 2024 season.
