KKR names Phil Salt as replacement for Jason Roy for IPL 2024.
Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have announced Phil Salt as the replacement for Jason Roy, who withdrew from the upcoming TATA IPL 2024 due to personal reasons. This marks Salt’s second season in the IPL after going unsold in the auction last year, having previously represented Delhi Capitals.
Acquired at his base price of INR 1.5 crore, the dynamic wicket-keeper batsman from England showcased his prowess with two consecutive T20I centuries against the West Indies in December of the previous year. His 48-ball century in the 4th T20I in Trinidad also stands as the joint-fastest for England.
The updated KKR squad now includes: Nitish Rana, Rinku Singh, Rahmanullah Gurbaz (wk), Shreyas Iyer (c), Phil Salt, Sunil Narine, Suyash Sharma, Anukul Roy, Andre Russell, Venkatesh Iyer, Harshit Rana, Vaibhav Arora, Varun Chakaravarthy, KS Bharat (wk), Chetan Sakariya, Mitchell Starc, Angkrish Raghuvanshi, Ramandeep Singh, Sherfane Rutherford, Manish Pandey, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Dushmantha Chameera, Sakib Hussain.
