“KL is my son, but my favourite cricketer in today’s time is definitely Virat Kohli” says Suniel Shetty.

Renowned Indian actor, Suniel Shetty, recently shared his admiration for former Indian cricket captain Virat Kohli, emphasizing that Kohli is his favorite cricketer. Shetty humorously explained that he refrained from choosing KL Rahul, who is his son-in-law, as his favorite, for the simple reason that he is a part of the family. Suniel Shetty went on to commend Kohli’s exceptional ability when it comes to chasing targets, highlighting how the Indian team is always in contention when the right-handed maestro is at the crease. These remarks were made during the Moneycontrol Creator Economy Summit, where Shetty expressed his cricketing preferences.

The actor and businessman, known for his versatile roles in Bollywood, praised Virat Kohli for his masterful prowess in successful run chases. He believes that when Kohli is on the field, the Men in Blue are never truly out of the game, showcasing the kind of trust and admiration that cricket fans around the nation hold for the iconic batsman.

Suniel Shetty said “My favourite cricketer in today’s time is definitely Virat Kohli. KL is my son. When it’s family, you don’t talk about family. My favourite cricketer is Virat Kohli because he is the master of chasing.”

Virat Kohli’s performance in the ongoing 2023 World Cup has only solidified his ‘Chase Master’ reputation. He has delivered spectacular performances, amassing 345 runs from six matches at an impressive average of 88.50.

Suniel Shetty also opened up about his own aspirations to represent the Indian cricket team, reminiscing how he dreamt of playing for the country. While his dream may not have come true, he expressed immense pride in his son-in-law, KL Rahul, who has realized that dream for him. KL Rahul, a consistent performer, has also left his mark in the ongoing ICC event.

Saying “I wanted to play for the country. That is being manifested through my son-in-law.”

One memorable instance of Rahul’s brilliance was his crucial unbeaten 97 against Australia, where India found themselves in a dire situation. With Rohit Sharma, Ishan Kishan, and Shreyas Iyer departing without scoring, Rahul and Kohli combined for an extraordinary 165-run partnership for the fourth wicket, steering India back into the contest and securing a vital six-wicket victory.

KL Rahul’s connection to Suniel Shetty extends beyond cricket, as he is married to Suniel Shetty’s daughter, Athiya Shetty. Their wedding took place in January at the Bollywood star’s picturesque Khandala mansion.
