“KL Rahul will not play as wicketkeeper in Test series against England”: Rahul Dravid.
Team India is gearing up for a five-game Test series against England, scheduled to commence on January 25 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad. As the first Test approaches, the spotlight has turned to the crucial decision of selecting India’s wicketkeeper for the series.
The squad boasts the presence of KL Rahul, KS Bharat, and Dhruv Jurel, sparking debates and speculation regarding who will assume the wicketkeeping responsibilities against England. Offering clarity on the matter, the team’s head coach, Rahul Dravid, has stepped forward to address the discussions.
Dravid acknowledged KL Rahul’s commendable performance as a wicketkeeper against South Africa but clarified that Rahul would not be the designated wicketkeeper for the upcoming series against England. Instead, he highlighted that the selection would be narrowed down to the other two options, KS Bharat and Dhruv Jurel, both of whom are viable candidates for the role.
Dravid said “KL Rahul will not play as wicketkeeper in Test series against England considering the conditions and duration of the series. We have picked two other wicket-keepers, and obviously Rahul did a fantastic job for us in South Africa and really played a big part in helping us draw the series. But considering five Test matches (against England) and playing in these conditions, the selection will be between the two other keepers we have.”
