“Me and Mahi are not close friends”: Yuvraj Singh breaks silence on his rift with Ms Dhoni.
Yuvraj Singh and MS Dhoni are iconic figures in India’s cricket history, particularly due to their pivotal roles in securing the last two World Cup titles. Dhoni led the team to victory in the 2007 T20 World Cup and the 2011 ODI World Cup, both held in India. Yuvraj, on the other hand, was a standout performer in the inaugural World T20 competition and earned the Player of the Tournament award in the 2011 World Cup. Despite their retirements from international cricket, they continue to be celebrated as India’s premier middle-order batsmen in white-ball cricket.
However, recent revelations have cast some uncertainty on Yuvraj and Dhoni’s personal relationship. In a recent interview on TRS Clips on YouTube, the former India all-rounder disclosed that he and Dhoni aren’t as close off the field as they may appear. Yuvraj explained that their friendship primarily revolves around cricket, and they do not share a strong off-field bond due to their differing lifestyles.
Yuvraj candidly acknowledged that during his tenure as Dhoni’s deputy when Dhoni was the captain, they didn’t always see eye to eye on various decisions.
Yuvraj Singh said “Me and Mahi are not close friends. We were friends because of cricket, we played together. Mahi’s lifestyle was very different from me, so we were never close friends, we were only friends because of cricket. When me and Mahi went on the ground, we gave more than 100% to our country. In that, he was captain, I was vice-captain. When I came into the team, I was 4 years junior. When you are captain and vice-captain, there will be decision differences.
