Mohammed Siraj shares a emotional story, missing his Dad after become no.1 ODI bowled.
Indian pacer Mohammed Siraj achieved a remarkable milestone on September 20th, soaring to the pinnacle of the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) ODI bowling rankings. Formerly ranked at No. 9, Siraj’s meteoric rise to the top spot followed his extraordinary performance in the Asia Cup 2023 final against Sri Lanka, where he clinched a sensational six-wicket haul.
After attaining the esteemed title of World No. 1 ODI bowler, Siraj took to Instagram to pay tribute to his late father, Mohammed Ghaus, with a heartfelt message: “Miss you Pappa.”
It’s a poignant reminder of the emotional journey the fast bowler has undertaken since his father’s passing in November 2020, which occurred while Siraj was representing India in Australia during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series.
Notably, Siraj’s bowling prowess was on full display during the Asia Cup 2023 final, where he unleashed a fiery spell that left Sri Lankan batters struggling. In a remarkable feat, he secured his five-wicket haul in a mere 16 balls, equaling the legendary Chaminda Vaas’ record for the fastest five-wicket haul in ODI history. Siraj’s exceptional performance played a pivotal role in limiting Sri Lanka to a meager total of 50 runs. As a result, India secured a resounding 10-wicket victory in the summit clash, clinching the coveted title of the continental tournament.
