Nepal’s spinner Sandeep Lamichhane sentenced to for 8 years for a rape case.

Nepal cricket team’s leg-spinner, Sandeep Lamichhane, received an eight-year jail sentence for rape, along with a Rs 300,000 fine and Rs 200,000 compensation to the victim, according to the Kathmandu District Court’s announcement on Wednesday.

The verdict came 15 months after the case was filed on September 6, 2022, with Lamichhane being accused of sexually molesting a woman in a hotel on August 21, 2022. Lamichhane, who was in the Caribbean for the Caribbean Premier League, was arrested on October 6, 2022, and released on bail for Rs 20,00,000 on January 13, 2023

Despite travel restrictions, Lamichhane challenged the ban in the supreme court, which ruled in his favor on February 27th, allowing him to participate in the Cricket World Cup League 2 series in Dubai as an injury replacement in March.
