‘No, I don’t think Ishan Kishan should be in the starting XI’, Harbhajan Singh backs Ks Bharat as Wicket Keeper For WTC Final.
India has found itself in a challenging situation with the absence of Rishabh Pant, their star wicketkeeper-batsman, due to injury. The search for a suitable replacement in the longest format of the game has been a struggle. KS Bharat, who has been given multiple opportunities, has failed to impress with his batting, raising concerns among the team management. While some people like Ishan Kishan’s aggressive batting style making him an attractive option. However, former India spinner Harbhajan Singh has expressed his backing for Bharat, suggesting that India should stick with him for the upcoming World Test Championship (WTC) final against Australia. Singh, aged 42, justified his stance by highlighting Bharat’s involvement in the team setup for a considerable period. He believes that the team should have faith in Bharat’s abilities and give him the opportunity to prove himself. While Singh acknowledged the absence of preferred choices like Wriddhiman Saha and KL Rahul, he firmly asserted that Bharat should be entrusted with the wicketkeeping duties.
Harbhajan Singh said “No, I don’t think Ishan Kishan should be in the starting 11 because KS Bharat has been playing consistently for some time. If it was Wriddhiman Saha, then I would consider playing him because he has more experience and is a better keeper. If KL Rahul was fit, I would have played him instead, at number 5 or 6, because he is a proper opener and he could keep as well,”
