“No one is an automatic selection, even I’m not”, Rohit Sharma comments upon World Cup Squad Selection.

With the much-anticipated ODI World Cup 2023 just around the corner, all participating teams are in the midst of finalizing their squads for the grand cricketing spectacle. India, too, finds itself in a situation of needing to fill various vacant spots in their lineup, owing to a series of injuries that have hit their regular players. In light of these circumstances, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma recently offered insights into the team’s combination for the upcoming tournament, emphasizing that no player, including himself, holds an automatic spot in the playing XI.

Rohit Sharma said “No one is an automatic selection, even I’m not. We have this thing where nobody is guaranteed a spot.”

The Indian team faces multiple selection challenges, notably in the middle-order batting positions and the wicketkeeper’s slot. Unfortunately, injuries have sidelined key players like Rishabh Pant, Shreyas Iyer, and KL Rahul, leading to a certain level of uncertainty surrounding their availability for the World Cup.
