“Nobody is arrogant. Everybody is representing India”, Ravindra Jadeja denies the Kapil Dev’s claim.
Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has responded to the claim made by former Indian cricketing legend Kapil Dev, dismissing the notion that current players have grown arrogant due to the influence of money and the Indian Premier League (IPL). According to Jadeja, such assertions often surface when India faces defeat in one or two matches.
In a recent interview with The Week magazine, Kapil Dev expressed his view that the current generation of Indian cricketers may display signs of arrogance, attributing it to their substantial earnings and association with the IPL. He suggested that they might have developed a sense of knowing everything.
Jadeja said “I didn’t know when he said this. I don’t search too many things on social media. Everyone has their own opinion. It’s nothing like that. Everybody is enjoying their game and working hard. Players are not taking their place in the team for granted. Whenever they are getting chances, they are giving their 100 percent and trying to win games for India.”
“Such questions crop up when India loses a game. Nobody is arrogant. Everybody is representing India. We are working hard and playing for the country. There is no personal agenda.”
India recently suffered a six-wicket defeat against the West Indies in the second One-Day International (ODI) in Barbados. As the deciding ODI of the three-match series approaches, scheduled to be held at the Brian Lara Stadium in Tarouba, Trinidad on August 1, the team will be keen to put up a strong performance.
