“People think Ajinkya Rahane has got place in WTC Side due to IPL performace but that’s not the case”,Ravi Shastri.

Ravi Shastri, who was the coach of the Indian cricket team for six out of the seven years between 2014 and 2021, made a sarcastic comment about the people who assumed that the Ajinkya Rahane was selected for the Test team solely based on his performance in three IPL matches.

Ravi Shastri said, “people think Ajinkya Rahane has just played 2-3 IPL games and that’s why he’s in the WTC Final side. They must’ve been on holiday for 6 months when he was playing FC cricket and scored those 600 runs”.

“People forget that hundred at the MCG, the way he played, and the fact that he’s gone back to the grind. You saw what it did with Pujara, he went back to the grind playing domestic cricket, playing county cricket, just got the number of runs under his belt, then came back into Test cricket and performed.”It’s the same thing with Rahane, let’s hope that experience comes handy.”
