“Rachin Ravindra looks like a young Yuvraj Singh in his flow”, Anil Kumble on New Zealand’s all rounder.

Former India captain Anil Kumble has heaped praise on New Zealand’s emerging batting talent, Rachin Ravindra, comparing his performance to that of Yuvraj Singh. Ravindra delivered a remarkable performance, scoring 123 runs off 96 balls during his debut World Cup match against England. The Kiwis secured a convincing nine-wicket victory on October 5 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Kumble expressed his admiration for this exceptional innings, especially considering it was Ravindra’s maiden appearance in such a prestigious tournament. The 52-year-old former captain went on to highlight that the young cricketer’s style of play reminded him of a young Yuvraj Singh during his prime. Kumble also commended Ravindra’s innings as both elegant and outstanding.

Kumble said “We saw what he’s capable of in that warm-up game (against Pakistan) when he opened the batting. But this was very special, you know, in his World Cup debut against the defending champions to back the way he did. This was my first sort of treat of Rachin Ravindra. He looks a bit like Yuvraj Singh, a young Yuvraj Singh in his flow. Very elegant. So wonderful”
