Ravi Shastri Points Out At Virat Kohli Technique After WTC Final Says ‘Virat can’t survive outside the off-stump’
Former India head coach Ravi Shastri has recently provided valuable insights into Virat Kohli’s batting technique, highlighting a notable flaw that may be affecting his performance. Kohli encountered another dismissal while attempting a shot on a delivery pitched considerably outside the off-stump. In the second innings of the World Test Championship Final (WTC Final), Kohli seemed to be in good form until an unfortunate lapse in judgment led to his departure with a personal score of 49. Regrettably, Kohli’s early dismissal on Day 5 placed the Indian team at a disadvantage from which they struggled to recover. Ultimately, Rohit Sharma’s team succumbed to a defeat by a significant margin of 209 runs.
Shastri shed light on an aspect of Kohli’s batting technique that may be hindering his ability to negotiate deliveries pitched outside the off-stump. According to the former coach, Kohli’s front foot tends to stray excessively towards the leg stump, resulting in a compromised position and adversely impacting his performance against such deliveries.
Ravi Shastri overlooking Kohli’s technique “Look at his front foot. It is on the leg stump and whenever he tries to play a cover drive, the ball is bound to take the edge as he can’t bring the front foot in line of the ball. Even if he is late by a fraction of a second, the ball will surely kiss the edge of his bat,”.
