“Rohit Sharma is Don Bradman of spinning pitches”: Former England spinner Monty Panesar ahead of IND vs END Test Seires.
Former England spinner Monty Panesar has expressed admiration for Indian captain Rohit Sharma, drawing a comparison between him and the legendary Don Bradman, especially when playing on turning pitches. Panesar emphasized Rohit’s outstanding batting abilities.
As England prepares to face India in the upcoming five-Test series starting on January 25 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad, Panesar praised Rohit for his consistent performance in the Test format. The subsequent matches will be held in Visakhapatnam (February 2–6), Rajkot (February 15–19), Ranchi (February 23–27), and Dharamsala (March 7–11).
Panesar said “Indian batters play attacking cricket against spinners. Rohit Sharma is going to be the most important batter for the home team. He is the Don Bradman on spinning tracks. England will have to dismiss him early in the innings to stand any chance of winning the Test series in India. If England can keep Rohit quiet, India will shift to Plan B, which is going to be good for England. They can put the young Indian batters under pressure,”
Rohit Sharma has been a key performer for the Indian Test squad in recent years, amassing 3737 runs at an average of 45.57 from 54 Test matches. His impressive record includes 10 centuries and 16 half-centuries.
