“Rohit was very kind to Shardul and Prasidh’ – Dinesh Karthik sheds light upon dissapointing performance from both seamers.
India faced a setback in the first Test against South Africa, succumbing to an innings and 32-run defeat at SuperSport Park, Centurion, trailing 0-1 in the two-match series. Rohit Sharma’s team managed scores of only 245 and 131 in response to South Africa’s substantial 408 in the first innings, led by Dean Elgar’s remarkable century (185).
In the aftermath of India’s defeat, wicketkeeper-batsman Dinesh Karthik criticized the seam duo of Shardul Thakur and Prasidh Krishna for their lack of support to Jasprit Bumrah during the match. Karthik expressed disappointment in Thakur’s performance, noting that despite his presence in the previous series, he delivered a subpar performance this time.
Dinesh Karthik said “Shardul and Prasidh definitely need to up their game. Rohit was very kind to them when he said they’re young bowlers. But Shardul was there at the previous series as well. He did pretty well. But this time, it was a very ordinary performance. Prasidh Krishna is young bowler and it shows that he doesn’t have too much first-class experience. He was giving away one too many boundary balls. There wasn’t any control and that’s never a good sign in Test cricket,”
