Shubman Gill could do for India in 2023 World Cup what Rohit Sharma did in 2019 edition, says Suresh Raina.

Former Indian cricketer Suresh Raina has expressed his confidence in Shubman Gill’s potential to have a productive ODI World Cup, much like his opening partner Rohit Sharma did in the 2019 edition held in England. During that tournament, Rohit made history by becoming the first player ever to score five centuries in a single edition of the World Cup.

Raina has noted the similarity in Gill’s ability to convert his starts into substantial scores, akin to the Indian captain Rohit Sharma. He believes that Gill has the capacity to elevate his performance and take his game to the next level during the upcoming World Cup

Suresh Raina said “His mindset will not stop here. What Rohit Sharma did in the 2019 World Cup; Gill could do the same for India this year. He’ll get 50 overs to bat, so it’s a takeoff point for his batting. I think he’s a born leader and he shows that in his game.”
