“Some people might get angry, but I believe you shouldn’t say anything to the small kids in the house, Aakash Chopra wants Shreyas Iyer to come in for Virat Kohli against Bangladesh in Asia Cup.
Aakash Chopra has suggested that Shreyas Iyer should step in for Virat Kohli in India’s playing XI during their Asia Cup 2023 Super Four clash against Bangladesh, provided he is fit and available. The upcoming match between the two teams is scheduled for Friday, September 15, at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. While Shreyas had to sit out India’s previous two games against Pakistan and Sri Lanka due to back spasms, he was seen practicing in the nets on Thursday. However, uncertainty surrounds his full recovery and whether he can participate in a 50-over game.
Chopra expressed his opinion by video on his YouTube channel, emphasizing the importance of including Shreyas in the playing XI if he appears to be in good physical condition.
Aakash Chopra said“I feel Shreyas Iyer should be played if he is fit. To be fair, he is practicing a lot. He has practiced the most, he is really sweating it out. I am pretty sure that he has recovered from back spasms if he is practicing, If he has recovered, he needs to play. However, if he plays, who should he play instead of is the big question you and I need to answer.
Notably, the former Indian opener emphasized that none of the younger players should make way for the Mumbai batsman.
“Some people might get angry, but I believe you shouldn’t say anything to the small kids in the house. You should ask them to play because the elders are experienced and will adjust later,” he added.
