“Sometimes too much money comes, arrogance comes”: Kapil Dev slams Indian Cricket Stars.

Indian cricket has undergone a remarkable transformation over the years. From being considered as minnows in the 1970s, the Indian cricket team has evolved into a powerhouse in the sport. Much of this transformation can be attributed to the financial prowess of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), which has enabled the country to host the Indian Premier League (IPL), the most expensive cricket tournament in the world.

With the rise of the IPL and other lucrative cricket leagues, players have also witnessed a significant increase in their earnings. Besides their high-paid central contracts, Indian cricketers now enjoy lucrative IPL deals and expensive brand endorsements, offering them numerous sources of income. However, despite the immense wealth and success, Kapil Dev, the legendary captain who led India to victory in the 1983 World Cup, believes that there is always room for improvement in the game.

Kapil Dev said “Differences come out, the good (thing) about these players…is that they are very confident. Negative point is they think they know everything. I don’t know how to put it better than that. But they are confident, but they think ‘you don’t have to ask anybody’. What we believe is an experienced person can help you.”

He added “Sometimes too much money comes, arrogance comes. These cricketers think they know everything. That’s the difference. I would say there are so many cricketers who need help. When Sunil Gavaskar is there, why can’t you talk? Where is the ego? There is no ego as such. They feel ‘we are good enough’. Maybe they are good enough, but extra help from somebody who has seen 50 seasons of cricket, he knows things. Listening sometimes can change your thought.”
