Sourav Ganguly Says ‘Winning IPL is more difficult than winning World Cup’.

After the defeat of the Indian team in the (WTC Final) World Test Championship final 2023 against Australia, there has been a wave of criticism from fans attributing the team’s poor performance to the Indian Premier League (IPL). It is worth noting that the IPL 2023 final was held on the reserve day, May 29, leaving the players with just one week to prepare for the crucial fixture. Captain Rohit Sharma also emphasized the limited preparation time the team had for the WTC final, suggesting that it could have made a significant difference in the outcome of the match.

Amidst the widespread blame on the IPL, Sourav Ganguly, former captain of the Indian cricket team, has come forward with a surprising statement in support of the T20 tournament. Ganguly stated that winning the IPL is an even more arduous task than winning the World Cup, as teams must consistently perform well across 14 matches to qualify for the knockout stages, unlike the World Cup format.

Sourav Ganguly said “Winning the IPL is even more difficult than winning the World Cup. You’ve to play 14 matches then Playoffs in the IPL whereas you qualify for Semis and then Final after 4-5 matches in the WC,”
