Suryakumar Yadav Posts Heartbreak Emoji After Hardik Pandya Becomes Mumbai Indians Captain.

The announcement of Hardik Pandya as the new Mumbai Indians captain, succeeding Rohit Sharma, has raised questions, especially considering the response from senior MI batsman Suryakumar Yadav. Within 24 hours of the announcement, Suryakumar posted a heartbreak emoji on his Instagram story and a post on his X account , sparking speculation about his feelings regarding Pandya’s captaincy.

This development has left fans pondering whether Suryakumar, who has been a part of MI since 2018 and was retained in 2022 ahead of Hardik Pandya, is discontented with the change in leadership. There are also speculations about whether Suryakumar had expectations of being the next in line for captaincy, especially given his role as vice-captain in IPL 2023 and leading the team in one game when Rohit was unavailable.

Addressing the situation, Mahela Jayawardene, the Global Head of Performance for Mumbai Indians, explained that appointing Hardik as the new skipper, with Rohit Sharma still an active player, was a decision made with an eye on the future. Pandya’s successful captaincy with the Gujarat Titans, leading them to two consecutive IPL finals, winning one, further justified the choice.
