“The best shot that I have ever seen in cricket” – Brad Hogg on Virat Kohli’s six against Pakistan in 2022 T20 World Cup.
Former Australian left-arm wrist-spinner, Brad Hogg, effusively praised Virat Kohli’s exceptional cricketing prowess in the India-Pakistan T20 World Cup 2022 match. Highlighting Kohli’s remarkable straight six off a good length delivery, Hogg acclaimed it as the finest shot he has witnessed in the sport. Hogg also noted the resurgence of Kohli’s hunger after a prolonged lean period, which he believes poses a formidable challenge for opposing teams.
During the match at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), Kohli’s stellar performance was nothing short of iconic, as he masterfully accumulated an unbeaten 82 runs from 53 deliveries. India’s nail-biting victory over Pakistan by four wickets in the last-ball thriller further underscored Kohli’s pivotal role. His innings featured four impressive sixes, including a particularly notable one off Rauf’s bowling that soared straight down the ground, despite not being pitched ideally.
Speaking on the “Backstage with Boria” segment of Revsportz’ show, Hogg showered praise on Kohli’s ability to shine under immense pressure. In this context, Hogg addressed Indian fans, advising them not to unduly burden Kohli with heightened expectations regarding his form, as he empathetically emphasized the natural ebb and flow every athlete experiences throughout their career.
Hogg said “That innings against Pakistan here at the MCG, hitting Haris Rauf back over his head off a good length – That was the best shot that I have ever seen in cricket. It was brilliant. I just think he has got his hunger back and a little bit of pressure taken off him. I think he’s got unfinished business, and that’s probably the big danger for opposition teams.”
He added “Even the great Sachin Tendulkar had ups and downs. When he has that right frame of mind and the pressure off his back, we have seen a dominant Virat Kohli.”
