“The best thing is that it came at the Wankhede when Sachin Tendulkar was also there”- Harbhajan Singh praises Virat Kohli after his magnificent 50th ODI century.

Harbhajan Singh has commended Virat Kohli for achieving a significant milestone by surpassing Sachin Tendulkar’s record and scoring his 50th ODI century in India’s victorious 2023 World Cup semifinal against New Zealand on Wednesday. Kohli exhibited his skill and responsibility by notching up 117 runs off 113 deliveries, guiding the Men in Blue to set a formidable 398-run target at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. The two-time champions went on to dismiss Kane Williamson’s team for 327 runs, securing a 70-run victory and securing their place in the final.

In a discussion on Star Sports, Harbhajan shared his thoughts on Kohli’s achievement, emphasizing the modern batting maestro’s fulfillment of Sachin Tendulkar’s prophecy.

Harbhajan Singh said “It won’t be enough no matter how much you praise him. The best thing is that it came at the Wankhede when Sachin Tendulkar was also there. It is a historic ground. We won the World Cup here and now this 50th century has come here. We have seen history being created with our own eyes.”

The former India spinner acknowledged Kohli’s accomplishment as breaking new ground in ODI cricket and highlighted the significance of this feat in the context of Tendulkar’s earlier prediction.

“It looks like a dream, which everyone sees, but very few are able to fulfill it. Virat Kohli breaking the great Sachin Tendulkar’s record is a massive thing. Great Sachin Tendulkar said once in (Mukesh) Ambani Sir’s home, that if someone breaks his record, it would be either Rohit Sharma or Virat Kohli.”

Kohli’s stellar performance not only contributed to India’s success in the semifinal but also marked a historic moment in his illustrious career, earning praise from cricket enthusiasts and former players alike.
