“The coming series will be a lesson for Umran Malik, he will realize that it is not just about pace”, says Brad Hogg.
Umran Malik is set to make a comeback into the Indian side, as he has been called up for the ODI and T20I series of the West Indies tour. Despite his disappointing performance in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 season, Malik is hopeful for a successful return. Former Australian cricketer Brad Hogg believes that this series will be pivotal for Malik, as he aims to secure his place in the Indian squad with the ODI World Cup on the horizon.
The talented pacer from Jammu and Kashmir, last represented Team India in the limited-overs series against New Zealand. At the age of 23, he has already played eight ODIs and an equal number of T20Is, and picked 13 and 11 wickets in the respective formats. Hogg emphasized that the upcoming white-ball series against the West Indies will also hold significant importance for Hardik Pandya and Arshdeep Singh.
Hogg said “Pandya is struggling with the bat a little bit, but he has got the potential, he has shown it in the past. I think this will be a very important series for Arshdeep to develop. I think with the IPL that he has just had, the coming series will be a lesson for Umran Malik. He will realize that it is not just about pace,”
