“The way he has been able to understand the demands of the international game”-Saba Karim on Rinku Singh after Ireland Tour.

Rinku Singh’s stock has surged significantly following his standout performance in this year’s Indian Premier League (IPL). The left-handed batsman earned admiration from both fans and experts alike for his composed match-finishing capabilities demonstrated throughout the 10-team tournament. His exceptional performance earned him a well-deserved spot in India’s squad for the three-match T20I series held in Ireland. Led by the reinvigorated Jasprit Bumrah, the ‘Men in Blue’ clinched a 2-0 series victory.

Rinku made his international debut during the opening game in Dublin. However, he didn’t have a chance to bat as India secured a two-run victory through the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern (DLS) method. It was in the second T20I at the same venue that Rinku had his maiden innings for India.Batting at number five, the left-hander adopted a deliberate approach initially before concluding his innings with a flourish. His pivotal contribution of 38 runs from 21 balls played a vital role in enabling India to set a challenging target of 186 runs. Ultimately, India triumphed by a margin of 33 runs. Consequently, Rinku Singh was rightly named the Player of the Match for his stellar performance.

Additionally, former Indian wicketkeeper Saba Karim highlighted that Rinku Singh didn’t need to deviate from his innate playing style to excel against Ireland. Karim also commended the young talent for maintaining his composure and not succumbing to the pressure associated with representing the nation at the international level.

Saba Karim said “Rinku Singh’s transition from a domestic cricketer to an international cricketer – that for me is the find of this tour. Lots of positives here. Top of my mind it has to be Rinku Singh – the way he has been able to understand the conditions and the demands of the international game.”
