“There is another reason to come here”, Rohit Sharma hints for comeback in T20Is for T20 World Cup 2023 at West Indies.
Indian captain Rohit Sharma indirectly suggested the possibility of his comeback to the T20I side for the T20 World Cup scheduled to be held in West Indies and USA in June 2024. After the T20 World Cup last year, the Indian selectors seemed to have shifted focus away from veterans like Rohit and Virat Kohli in the shortest format. Both players have not been included in any T20I squad since the showpiece event, with Hardik Pandya leading the new-look Indian team.
However, during the launch of CricKingdom Academy in the USA, Rohit Sharma hinted that there might be a chance of him featuring in the T20 World Cup next year.
Rohit Sharma said “More than just going and enjoying, there is another reason to come here (in the USA). Because you know the World Cup is coming. In June, there will be the T20 World Cup (2024) happening in this part of the world. So, I’m pretty sure everyone is excited. So yaa, we look forward to that.”
Rohit also emphasized the significance of India winning ICC events and putting an end to their 10-year-long drought without a major trophy. As fans eagerly await the developments in the Indian cricket team’s selection for future tournaments, Rohit’s potential return to the T20I squad would undoubtedly add more excitement and depth to the side.
Adding on this the Indian Captain told “ICC tournaments are the ones you need to win, we will try our best like any other year to have the best chance to win the trophy for India.”
