“There is no concern about his batting” says India’s batting coach Vikram Rathour on Rohit Sharma’s form.

The batting coach of Team India, Vikram Rathour, has confidently addressed any concerns regarding skipper Rohit Sharma’s batting form leading up to the first Test against West Indies in Dominica. Rathour emphasized that Rohit’s recent performance in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia, where he scored a century, showcased his adaptability to different conditions.

Rohit Sharma continued his excellent form by registering his 10th Test century in Dominica. He scored an impressive 103 runs off 221 balls, forming a remarkable partnership of 229 runs with debutant opener Yashasvi Jaiswal, who scored a splendid 171 off 387 deliveries. Their partnership played a crucial role in India’s declaration at 421/5 in response to West Indies’ first-innings total of 150.

With a strong foundation set by the opening pair, India went on to secure a commanding victory by an innings and 141 runs. Ravichandran Ashwin, with his exceptional performance, claimed seven wickets in the second innings to complement his five-wicket haul in the first innings.

During a press conference held on Sunday, July 16, Rathour dismissed any concerns regarding Rohit Sharma’s batting form, underscoring India’s resounding triumph over West Indies.

Vikram Rathour said “In the last series versus Australia also, he scored a hundred. There is no concern about his batting. The good thing is that being somebody who is a stroke player, he is able to change his game to that extent [as per the situation]. He did it against Australia and here as well.”

He added He understands how to play on such wickets. Knowing that you need to change your game is one thing but being able to do that is different. He can do that. He was able to execute his plans. We all know that he is a big player and he showed his potential.”
