Tim David Sixes Helps MI Defeat RR By 6 Wickets, Jaiswal 100 Goes In Vain

In a thrilling encounter, Mumbai Indians defeated Rajasthan Royals by six wickets, thanks to an incredible display of power hitting by Tim David. David smoked three consecutive sixes off Jason Holder in the final over to help Mumbai Indians chase down a mammoth total of 213 with three balls to spare. The unbeaten knock of 45 runs off just 14 balls by David, along with a crucial 62-run partnership with Tilak Varma (29* off 21), proved to be the difference in the end.

Earlier, Suryakumar Yadav’s knock of 55 off 29 balls laid the foundation for the chase, with David and Varma taking over towards the end. Mumbai had a shaky start, losing skipper Rohit Sharma cheaply for just 3(5). However, Ishan Kishan and Cameron Green steadied the innings with a 62-run partnership for the second wicket, before Ashwin removed Kishan for 28(23). Ashwin struck again in his next over, dismissing Green for 44 off 26 balls.

Rajasthan Royals had earlier posted a formidable total of 212/7 after opting to bat first, thanks to Yashasvi Jaiswal’s maiden IPL century. Jaiswal’s brilliant knock of 124 off just 62 balls, featuring 16 boundaries and 5 sixes, propelled Rajasthan to a competitive total. Jaiswal and Jos Buttler added 72 runs for the opening wicket, before Piyush Chawla removed Buttler for 18(19) in the eighth over. Jaiswal continued his attacking stroke play, reaching his century in just 53 balls. However, he lost his wicket in the final over, failing to take Rajasthan past the 213-run mark.
