Under MS Dhoni’s regime he will pick a squad of 15, same squad of 15 will play throughout the year:Ravi Ashwin appreciates Ms Dhoni Captaincy.
Ravichandran Ashwin, the Indian off-spinner, was not selected in the Indian side for the World Test Championship final, as the team opted for four pacers and the sole spinner Ravindra Jadeja. Following India’s loss to Australia by 209 runs in the WTC final, Ashwin has been vocal about his disappointment in being left out, despite playing a significant role in guiding India to the summit.
In a recent interview, Ashwin shed light on MS Dhoni’s approach to captaincy, revealing that the former captain, who led India to victory in the ODI and T20 World Cups, would typically form a core group of 15 players and stick with them for a year before considering changes.
Ashwin said “It is understandable that there’s a furore in India that we haven’t won an ICC trophy in 10 years. I empathize with the fans. But the reaction on social media is that this player should be dropped and that player should be included. But quality of a player doesn’t change overnight. Lot of us talk about MS Dhoni’s leadership. What did he do? He kept it very simple. Under his regime, where I also played, he will pick a squad of 15. The same squad of 15 and the XI will play throughout the year. That sense of security is very important for a player,”
