“Virat Kohli and David Warner are not part of Fab 4 in Tests”, says Aakash Chopra.

Virat Kohli, the Indian cricket sensation, has been under scrutiny following a period of subpar performances in Test cricket since 2019. However, he made a triumphant comeback by scoring a remarkable century against Australia in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2023. Unfortunately, his recent failure in the World Test Championship (WTC) final has once again raised questions about his form and consistency. Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra has expressed his opinion that Kohli, along with David Warner, is no longer part of the esteemed ‘Fab Four,’ suggesting that the group has now been reduced to the ‘Fab Three,’ consisting of Kane Williamson, Joe Root, and Steve Smith.

Although there was subsequent debate about including Warner in the exclusive list of the ‘Fab Four,’ recent performances have led Chopra to believe that Warner no longer meets the criteria. During the period from 2014 to 2019, Kohli exhibited outstanding form, earning him the reputation as one of the most formidable batters in the world. Similarly, Williamson, Root, and Smith also performed exceptionally well during that time frame. The ‘Fab Four’ maintained an average of over 50 in Test cricket throughout those five years, with Root having the lowest average among them at 50.82.

Aakash Chopra said in his video “Virat Kohli, Joe Root, Steve Smith, and Kane Williamson were a sure shot ‘Fab Four’ at one point. In fact, even David Warner’s name was present on that list. We are talking about Test cricket. We are talking about the period between 2014 and 2019. But we don’t have a ‘Fab Four’ now, only a ‘Fab Three’,”.

Overlooking Virat Kohli performance Chopra said “If we talk about Virat Kohli’s performances between 2014 and 2019, he played 62 matches and scored 5695 runs at an average of 58.71 with the help of 22 centuries. Kohli was unstoppable. There was a home season where he scored four double-centuries. He was absolutely brilliant,”
