Virat Kohli Scores 76th Century, Gets An Overseas Test Hundred After 55 Months.
In a remarkable display of skill and perseverance, Virat Kohli, the star batsman of the Indian cricket team, achieved a significant milestone by scoring a splendid century against the West Indies at Queen’s Park Oval. The moment of glory came during his 500th international appearance and 111th Test match, as he gracefully guided the ball to the boundary off Shannon Gabriel when India’s score stood at 314-4.
Kohli’s masterful innings continued to enthral fans until he was eventually dismissed for 121 with India’s score at 341-5. Interestingly, this was only the third time in his illustrious Test career that he fell victim to a run-out.
What made this century all the more special was that it was Kohli’s first international century overseas since 2018. His last ton in overseas Tests was achieved in December 2018 during India’s tour of Australia. This achievement further solidified his status as a phenomenal player across all formats, amassing an impressive tally of 76 centuries for India.
The day before, when Kohli came to the crease with India at 153-2, he was tantalizingly close to his century, finishing the day at 288-4, along with the Indian team rallying from a challenging afternoon session.
Moreover, Kohli’s century propelled him to the 10th position on the list of combined appearances in all three formats of the game. The illustrious Sachin Tendulkar currently tops this list with 664 appearances, adding to Kohli’s accolades and making him a part of cricketing history.
