“Virat Kohli would go for INR 42 crore if he comes to the auction table”: Aakash Chopra IPL 2024 auction.
Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra expressed his view that Virat Kohli could command a substantial INR 42 crore in the IPL auction if teams choose to bid for him. Notably, Australian pacers Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc set new records in the IPL 2024 auction.
Cummins became the most expensive player in IPL history, securing a deal with Sunrisers Hyderabad for INR 20.5 crore. However, this record was short-lived as Starc surpassed the 20 crore mark, fetching a staggering INR 24.75 crore from Kolkata Knight Riders.
Chopra emphasized the increasing value of Indian players in the IPL, urging for higher recognition in light of Cummins and Starc’s lucrative deals.
Chopra said โThe purse should be of INR 200 crore with 150 for the Indian players. The remaining INR 50 crore should be kept for the overseas cricketers. Virat Kohli would go for INR 42 crore if he comes to the auction table.โ
