Wasim Akram Says Australia Are Slightly Favourite To Win WTC Final
Former Pakistan international cricketer Wasim Akram has expressed his opinion on the upcoming World Test Championship (WTC) final, stating that Australia is currently the frontrunner to win the tournament. Akram, the ‘Sultan of Swing’, believes that the pitch at the Oval will provide favorable conditions for the fast bowlers, which could pose a challenge for the Indian batsmen.
According to the 57-year-old cricket legend, the surface at the Oval is expected to offer more bounce, making it essential for the Indian batting unit to exercise caution. Akram emphasized that the Duke ball, used in England, swings more than the Kookaburra ball used in Australia. This disparity in ball behavior could prove troublesome for the Indian batsmen, who have encountered difficulties when facing swinging deliveries in recent times.
Akram said “In Oval, you play a Test match either in the last week of August or during first or second week of September when the pitch is bone dry. But this time it’s a fresh pitch and it’s early June. There will be a lot more bounce. The Dukes swings a lot more and for longer time and stays a lot harder than Kookaburra. I think Australia will be slightly favourites,
