(Watch) Ben Stokes takes a running stunner to dismiss Shreyas Iyer in 2nd IND vs ENG Test
England captain Ben Stokes showcased his athleticism with a remarkable catch to dismiss Shreyas Iyer on Day 3 of the second Test against India in Visakhapatnam.
Despite a shaky start that saw the early departure of both opening batsmen, the hosts appeared to be regaining momentum before Iyer fell while attempting to take on Tom Hartley in the 28th over.
In an effort to clear the field, Iyer stepped down the track but only managed to connect with the toe end of the bat. The resulting mishit brought Ben Stokes, stationed at mid-off, into action, requiring an exceptional effort to complete the catch.
Here is the catch of Ben Stokes to get the wicket of Shreyas Iyer.
Initially losing sight of the ball, Stokes adjusted swiftly and turned towards the long-off boundary. Despite undergoing significant knee surgery, the England skipper managed to reach the position in time, maintaining focus on the ball to secure the catch.
Shreyas Iyer, facing scrutiny after a modest performance in the first innings with just 27 runs, was eager for a substantial score. However, he failed to capitalize on his opportunity once again, departing after scoring 29 runs off 52 deliveries, which included a couple of boundaries.
