Cameron Green delivered an outstanding performance with the bat for Australia against New Zealand at the Basin Reserve in Wellington on Day 1 of the opening Test on Thursday, February 29. Taking on the role of the new No.4 batter, he showcased his prowess by crafting an unbeaten innings of 103 runs from 155 balls, a display adorned with 16 boundaries.

Throughout his innings, the 24-year-old maintained momentum for the visitors even as wickets tumbled at the other end. Notably, he formed a crucial 67-run partnership with Mitchell Marsh for the fifth wicket, aiding Australia’s recovery from a precarious position of 89/4.

Green’s noteworthy century came after he had previously posted scores of 14, eight, and 42 while filling in for Steve Smith at No.4 during the two-match Test series against the West Indies. By the close of play on Day 1, Australia had reached 279/9 after 85 overs, with Green and Josh Hazlewood occupying the crease.

In addition to Green’s stellar contribution, Mitchell Marsh, Steve Smith, and Usman Khawaja made valuable contributions with scores of 40 (from 39 balls), 33 (from 118 balls), and 31 (from 71 balls), respectively.
