WATCH: David Warner Receives Guard Of Honour From Pakistan players In Farewell Test.
In the final Test of his illustrious career, Australian opener David Warner took to the field during the concluding moments of Day 1 against Pakistan at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG). Tasked with facing one last over before stumps, the Australians were up against Pakistan’s total of 313 runs in 77.1 overs, having opted to bat first in the series’ third and final Test.
Stepping onto the outfield with Usman Khawaja, Warner, paying homage to the late Phillip Hughes, touched the dressing room mural before crossing the boundary ropes. Embracing Khawaja, his longtime batting companion since childhood, the seasoned batter expressed gratitude for their enduring partnership.
The Pakistani players, showing respect for the retiring Warner, formed a guard of honor led by skipper Shan Masood. Warner reciprocated by shaking hands with Masood and acknowledging the Pakistani team’s sportsmanship before heading to the crease.
