Ravichandran Ashwin made history on day 2 of the third Test against England by reaching the milestone of 500 Test wickets. Ashwin, with 499 wickets before this game, dismissed Jack Crawley to become the second Indian, following Anil Kumble, to achieve this feat. The 37-year-old off-spinner accomplished this milestone in just 98 matches, making him the second quickest to reach 500 Test wickets after Muthiah Muralitharan.

Ashwin also holds the record for being the fastest Indian to achieve this milestone, taking seven fewer matches than Kumble. Here is a list of the fastest players to reach 500 Test wickets, with Ashwin being the ninth bowler to accomplish this feat.
