The incident transpired when, in the 26th over, Kuldeep Yadav, having dismissed Ollie Pope just before lunch, was bowling to Zak Crawley, who was in good form and had already scored a half-century.
Crawley, on 61 runs, faced a flighted delivery from Kuldeep that seemed destined to go down the leg side. However, Crawley attempted to glance it, resulting in the ball grazing Dhruv Jurel’s gloves before landing in Sarfaraz’s hands. Sarfaraz, positioned at short leg, was convinced that there was an edge off Crawley’s bat and urged Rohit Sharma, the Indian captain, to consider a review.
