“We still don’t have a better batter than Cheteshwar Pujara in Test cricket”- Harbhajan Singh after India’s failure in the 1st Test against South Africa.

Former Indian off-spinner Harbhajan Singh has expressed his belief that India committed a significant error by excluding experienced batters like Ajinkya Rahane and Cheteshwar Pujara from their Test lineup. The Indian batting struggled in both innings, leading to a defeat in the Centurion Test against South Africa by an innings and 32 runs.

Harbhajan argued that the decision to move on from Pujara lacked a valid justification, emphasizing that there isn’t currently a better red-ball batter than him.

In a video on his YouTube channel, Harbhajan Singh conveyed his thoughts on Cheteshwar Pujara, asserting the importance of retaining such seasoned players in the Test squad.

Harbhajan Singh said “Didn’t select Ajinkya Rahane and have left Cheteshwar Pujara out for no reason. These are the two players who have scored runs everywhere. If you look at the previous record Pujara has the same contribution as Kohli had. I don’t understand why Pujara has been left out, we still don’t have a better batter than Pujara in Test cricket. He plays slowly but he saves you, because of him India won Test in Australia and England.”
