“Wickets shouldn’t be so flat” – India’s Bowling coach Paras Mhambrey gets disappointed with slow Trinidad surface for 2nd India Vs West Indies Test.
Team India’s bowling coach, Paras Mhambrey, expressed his disappointment with the pitch used for the second Test against the West Indies in Port of Spain, Trinidad. He criticized the slow and batting-friendly surface, stating that it made batting too easy and wickets should not be so flat. During Day 3 of the Trinidad Test, which was affected by rain and bad light, the West Indies only lost four wickets and scored 143 runs in a defensive mode. Mhambrey further discussed India’s bowling performance and shared his thoughts on the Trinidad surface during a press conference at the end of the day’s play.
Paras Mhambrey said “The pitch is extremely slow. The ball wasn’t seaming or spinning a lot. It was extremely slow. Towards the end, the ball was turning slightly, but it was very easy for batting.”
Further more he added “To top it, they [West Indies] were batting extremely defensively. Had they played some shots, maybe there would have been some opportunities to pick wickets. But they weren’t even trying for that. But to sum it up, our bowlers put in the effort. Whatever was expected from the team and the captain, they fulfilled that.”
